November and December
A double month this month
Bath Rugby vs La Rochelle 06.12.24
Tom Dunn It was a “Dunn special” that opened Bath’s try account, when the hooker threw in at a lineout very close to the line. He set up a rolling maul and was the man who was holding the ball as the forwards powered over.
Quinn Roux The appalling weather conditions worked in Bath’s favour for their second try. A chip over the La Rochelle defence from Finn Russell allowed for Roux to slide in across the line and dot the ball down.
Benetton Rugby vs Bath Rugby 15.12.24
Niall Annett 10 points down and with nothing on the board, Bath needed to score – they did so via Annett who led the forward attack near the line until patience paid off and Bath’s account was opened.
Josh Bayliss Bath’s endlessly impressive back row were responsible for this try, with Miles Reid making an impressive break up the mid-field. He then offloaded to Bayliss, who demonstrated why his full toolkit of skills often means he appears on the wing – he ran through defenders to score Bath’s second.
Thomas du Toit The South African couldn’t stop scoring last season, and he brought up Bath’s third try of the day after some patient attack on the Benetton line – his power was too much for the Italians.
Newcastle Falcons vs Bath Rugby 21.12.24
Alfie Barbeary Despite conceding a try in the second minute, Bath struck back immediately with a try from Barbeary who took advantage of the momentum his fellow forwards had created.
Tom de Glanville After a maul risked going out of play, Finn Russell chipped a kick from the right to the left wing, aiming for Will Muir. The bounce was unkind to Muir, but leapt up nicely for de Glanville, who leapt over Muir on the ground and scored.
Will Stuart With the clock in the red at the end of the first half, momentum created by repeated pick and goes from both forwards and backs allowed Stuart to crash over the line.
Charlie Ewels An attacking lineout set up a dynamic attacking platform for the Bath forwards – the move ended with Ewels rampaging towards the line, complete with a spin, to score the bonus-point try.
Finn Russell Spinning around defenders was clearly the order of the day: Russell received the ball after an attacking line-out and danced around to score.
Sam Underhill The game was won, but Bath kept attacking – replacement Underhill was at the end of some patient play on the Newcastle line, and powered over in the 79th minute.
Bath Rugby vs Saracens 28.12.24
Thomas du Toit Ted Hill demonstrated his power as he smashed through the Saracens defence, making enough ground to allow du Toit to fall over the line.
Cameron Redpath The ball went wide after a ruck near the line, allowing Finn Russell to create space for Redpath to nip over to score.
Will Muir Captain Ben Spencer showed how quick he is on his feet as he shaped to go right at the back of a scrum, then changed on-the-fly and went left, to discover Muir racing up on the wing.
Joe Cokanasiga It was Ollie Lawrence who set up Bath’s bonus point try with a sublime offload from the back of his hand to Cokanasiga, who happily ran in to score.
Will Muir ‘The Horse’ scored his second try in his favourite corner, and it was an easy run in after some neat passing from Spencer and de Glanville.
Sam Underhill A delightfully dynamic period of play saw some lovely interplay to send the ball close to the tryline, and Underhill dutifully powered over.
Ollie Lawrence Saracens hoped to get some more points on the board but were charged down in the attempt – Lawrence was in place to chase the loose ball and score.
Joe Cokanasiga With only five minutes left, Bath kept attacking and moved the ball neatly from left to right. Cokanasiga received the ball from de Glanville and ran in.
Will Muir His hat-trick came in the 78th minute and was a Muir classic – galloping in from midfield into Horse Corner, scattering defenders as he went.
